Aldebaran III was the inhabited third planet of the Aldebaran system. This system was located less than 90 light years from Earth. This planet was located in the region between Sector 184/02 to Sector 185/138, which was located in proximity to the Ficus sector. (TOS: "The Deadly Years"; TNG: "Up The Long Ladder", okudagram)

A few years prior to 2267, Janet and Theodore Wallace performed experiments using carbohydrate compounds to slow the aging of plants at the Federation outpost on this planet. (TOS: "The Deadly Years")

In 2293, the location of Aldebaran in the Milky Way Galaxy was labeled in a star chart that was in Captain James T. Kirk's quarters aboard the USS Enterprise-A. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, okudagram))

In "Two Days and Two Nights", the NX-class Enterprise, set a milestone sixteen years after the HMS New Zealand's mission to the Aldebaran system, by becoming the first Earth ship to travel 90 light years away from the Sol system.

According to, the Aldebaran (Bayer designation Alpha Tauri) system was located 68 light years from the Sol system. Aldebaran had a spectral classification of K5. The article's writer believed this planet and Aldebaron III were the same planet. The planet was a long-time Federation member. [1]

According to the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I"), Aldebaran III (or Alpha Tauri III) was a Federation member in 2378.
