...as John Harriman (1994)

Alan Ruck (born 1 July 1956; age 67) played John Harriman, the somewhat hapless captain of the USS Enterprise-B in Star Trek Generations. Although he has worked steadily in Hollywood since the 1980s, Ruck is probably most recognizable for his roles as the equally hapless Cameron Frye in the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Stuart Bondek in the TV sitcom Spin City co-starring with Victoria Dillard.

Ruck's earliest film role was Carl Brennan in the 1983 drama Bad Boys, which was also the film debut of Star Trek Enterprise guest star Clancy Brown. In the same year, Ruck appeared in the film Class (with Virginia Madsen). His other films include Three for the Road (1987, with Bert Remsen and Sally Kellerman), Three Fugitives (1989, with Bruce McGill, Sherman Howard, Tim De Zarn, Brian Thompson, Scott Lincoln, Albert Henderson, and Gary Armagnac), Young Guns II (1990, with Tracey Walter, Leon Rippy, Robert Knepper, and David Paul Needles), and Twister (1996, with Bruce Wright, Richard Lineback, Scott Thomson, Patrick Fischler, Zach Grenier, and Sean Whalen).

In the same year as Generations, he appeared in Speed. Several other Star Trek guest stars appeared in that movie: Carlos Carrasco, Richard Lineback, Jordan Lund and Bruce Wright.

Ruck reprised his role as Captain John Harriman for the Star Trek fan film Star Trek: Of Gods and Men.
