Alan Bernard was a Human Starfleet officer in the mid-24th century.

In 2365, he held the rank of captain, and was the commanding officer of the USS Yuri Gagarin. (TNG: "The Measure Of A Man")

Prior to stardate 50749.5, Captain Bernard was a research and development officer who worked on the USS Prometheus. (VOY: "Message in a Bottle" set artwork)

The character was never mentioned in dialog; this name from a Starship Deploy Status chart seen on Starbase 173. Years later, the name was listed on the dedication plaque of the Prometheus.
Captain Bernard was named after TNG and VOY sound mixer Alan Bernard.
