Alan Bernard was the sound mixer on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager. He and his sound mixing team shared eight Emmy Award nominations for their work on both of these series, winning four of them. They also received five award nominations from the Cinema Audio Society, winning once. Bernard was interviewed in 1994 during the location shooting for "All Good Things...". This interview was part of the special feature "Starfleet Moments and Memories" on the TNG Season 7 DVD Edition.

Bernard received his first Emmy Award nomination, and win, for his work on the 1976 TV movie The Savage Bees. He earned more nominations for his sound mixing on the TV movies Having Babies II (1977, featuring Lee Meriwether in the cast), Baby Comes Home (1980), and The Jesse Owens Story (1984, featuring LeVar Burton, Ronny Cox, James B. Sikking, Vic Tayback, and Ben Vereen). He was also nominated for his work on a segment of the 1983 mini-series The Winds of War and the pilot episode of Crime Story. In addition to these credits, Bernard was a sound mixer on the pilot for Knight Rider, films such as A Christmas Story and Porky's II: The Next Day, and episodes of series like Gunsmoke, The A-Team and MacGyver.
