Alameda was an island city located in the greater San Francisco Bay area of California, in the United States of America. Alameda was to the east of San Francisco, and to the south-west of Oakland. In the mid-1980s, Alameda was the site of Alameda N.A.S., a US Navy base, which housed the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise (CVN-65).

After traveling back in time to 1986, Pavel Chekov and Uhura were assigned to locate the naval base in Alameda in an effort to locate uranium. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
