Akorem Laan was transported to the 24th century by the Bajoran Prophets, thereby saving him from death. He briefly assumed the title of Emissary from Benjamin Sisko. However, his unpopular archaic reforms made Sisko challange his title. The Prophets soon reinstalled him as Emissary afterwards, as they were only testing him. Akorem was placed back into his own time, two centuries prior. (DS9: "Accession")
