The term African refers to anything originating from the Earth continent of Africa.

Benjamin Sisko had what he described to his son as being "one of the finest collections of ancient African art you'll ever see," including a 2,000 year old Yoruba mask. Until 2371, Sisko kept it in storage on Earth, until he finally retrieved it for inclusion in his quarters aboard Deep Space 9. (DS9: "The Search, Part I")
