Acamar III was the inhabited third planet in the Acamar system. This was the homeworld for the Acamarians, a warp capable humanoid species.

The planet was governed by an uniglobal representative government. The legislative body was known as the Acamarian Ruling Council. This government was headed by a Sovereign. In 2366, the sovereign was Marouk. The Acamarian Internal Security was responsible for law enforcement duties.

That same year, the USS Enterprise-D enlisted the aid of Sovereign Marouk to end the Gatherer raids on Federation outposts. Upon completion of this mission, the Enterprise returned the sovereign to her planet. (TNG: "The Vengeance Factor")

In 2378, this system was in or near Federation space. This was a binary star system. Acamar A was a a Class A star with a magnitude of -1, which was a hundred times brighter than Sol. Acamar B was a Class A star.

According to Startrek.com, the Acamar system (Bayer designation Theta Eridani) was a binary star system located 50 to 60 light years from the Sol system. [1]
