• Chronologically, this is the earliest known appearance of the new Starfleet uniforms as introduced in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (set in 2285).
• In "Encounter at Farpoint", Data claimed to have graduated in the "class of '78", which seemingly would refer to this year. However, later revelations about Data's history consistently contradict the possibility that Data even existed in this era.
