• On Earth, after eleven years of construction, the Millennium Gate is finally completed atop the former location of Portage Creek, Indiana. Covered in highly-reflective solar panels, the kilometer-high structure was built as a self-contained biosphere with its own ecosystem. It pioneered many new technologies and scientific principles which lead it to serve as a model for the first colony on Mars. (VOY: "11:59")
