Production begins on TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint". Among the scenes filmed on this day are those of Riker meeting Beverly and Wesley Crusher in the Farpoint mall.
Also, the first publicity photos of the new series are shot, featuring the new main cast (with the exception of Michael Dorn) and Gene Roddenberry on the planet set.
